Title: Invitation Post by: Manfred_Luetzow on May 11, 2007, 01:59:09 AM I invited a collaborator via the Collanos website and his reply was:
"I have just received a very suspicious mail with your address () inviting me to download a P2P software called Collanos Network taht appears as a link in the mail(!?). I imagine, by the editorial mistakes it contains, will be that kind of "Chinese handicrafts" everybody receive from time to time. If this is so probably someone has gone into your mail lists. At the moment I have the mail in the spam inbox in case you wish to have it." I have not seen the mail sent out but surely it is not appropriate to use my e-mail address as a sender - better would be to send such invitations via an e-mail application resident on the users PC such as Outlook, Pegasus. I definitely do not want to appear as a SCAM-distributor - a (p)review function (like here in the forum) would at least be helpful (to see exactly how the message arrives at the invited person). From what I understand, the issue is with anyone being able to enter any email and making it appear that it came from them? Once we launch our new web site, users will have to be signed in to send an invite. Does this address the issue? Cheers, Gil - Collanos |
