Future... / Feature Requests / Search and Spellchecker
|
on: May 01, 2007, 06:52:47 AM
|

Need a comprehensive search feature. Need a spellcheck for discussions - will help the search too! It would be better if both were integrated with the OS - for eg. In the Mac OS, Spotlight Plug-ins are possible for search - and spellcheck is system wide. AM

General / Collanos Workplace 1.1 Beta Testing / Better!: Startup/Shutdown Lag - Java?
Mac OS X 10.4.9, Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz It takes about 1 minute for WP to startup and another 1 minute for it to shutdown - and the WP menu is still visible during the Shutdown - is it this slow/fast on other platforms? Just an informal survey. AM
I patched with the latest update and now my startup and shutdown times are down to about 30 seconds - great!

Future... / Feature Requests / Re: Mailing into target Collanos folders (and vice versa)

E-mail is not going to disappear anytime soon - even with Collanos turing out to be a good stable environment. We need integration with e-mail inside Collanos. Atleast on the Mac, I can suggest a couple of ways to do this: 1. Integrate with MailTags - a Mac developer will know of the product. By tagging something in Mail that should belong to Collanos, the e-mail should be copied to a discussion in Collanos - either by Applescript or internal to the OS. 2. Create an Applescript in Mail - that copies the selected e-mails and places them inside Collanos.

Future... / Feature Requests / Essential: Calendar and Address Book

I would go as far as to say that to get our team to use Collanos, shared Calendar and Addressbook is essential. Calendar must be in iCal format for easy import/exchange Addressbook should support WebDAV. AM

General / Collanos Workplace 1.1 Beta Testing / More Interface issues

Draging files to outside Collanos (say to the Finder) is not consistent. One or two file selection and drag/drop is fine - but the highlighting of the files is not clear. However, more than 2 file dragging and dropping causes only one file to be moved. This has happened only with Files - lets say you want to drag 3 files from the Main Collanos trial workspace - to a Finder window. As in other Mac apps, you Cmd-Select or Cmd-Click on each file so that they are highlighted and then you drag it into the Finder window. With two files selected, the drag and drop works fine - more than two, only the first file is moved to the Finder.

General / Collanos Workplace 1.1 Beta Testing / Traffic Status / Replication Information
|
on: April 29, 2007, 10:56:12 PM

One critical information that is needed is which files from a workspace has been replicated by whom. There should be a status for each invitee that shows how much and what data they have replicated from your workspace. Even when an invited user has connected and is replicating the data, some data transfer information is required. This is critical from a data security viewpoint. What exactly is the Traffic status at the bottom supposed to show? Traffic at a given time, average or cumulative?
Gil Heiman (Laptop) Apr 29, 2007 10:29:48 PM Will provide more info on the Traffic Monitor with our Release Notes next week. For now, it is an indicator of pending outgoing traffic awaiting offline members to receive and inbound traffic when something is on route to your machine.

General / Collanos Workplace 1.1 Beta Testing / Mac OS Interface/Bugs

I'm copying this from my Worplace discussion to wshich I can invite anyone interested. My own username is alexmathew. I cannot seem to attach files to this post - so this post may sound confusing.
There was one interface issue with the login - see attached file. See attachment: Interface issue at Login.gif But overall the installation has been a breeze and the interface speed is great!
Another minor interface is the submit button: See attached Interface issue with Submit Button screenshot.
One more interface issue is the name of the Workplace program as show by Mac OS X is "java" - in the Dock as well as in the Cmd-Tab switching - is this an OS limitation? I cant take a screenshot - but any Mac OS developer wil know what I mean.
Draging files to outside Collanos (say to the Finder) is not consistent. One or two file selection and drag/drop is fine - but the highlighting of the files is not clear. However, more than 2 file dragging and dropping causes only one file to be moved.
