1 SUMMARY
This release 1.3.0.2 is a pure maintenance release. It fixes a number of defects and limitations discovered since the launch of the main 1.3 version three weeks ago. Furthermore, this maintenance release reduces the load on CPU, bandwidth and overall traffic volume significantly. Several optimizations were applied to the replication engine. All users should update to this version to guarantee smooth operation of Collanos Workplace.
2 TECHNICAL DETAILS
Online Presence
Presence checking is now applied only to members in workspaces. In the past, the system checked also for obsolete users (e.g. uninvited members) in the background.
Replication System
The “fetch from any peer” content synchronization algorithm now checks for updates using the following optimized rule: Every 20 minutes from peers with a stable online state, but not more frequently than every 5 minutes from peers with online/offline state changes. In the past we checked too often, which was simply not needed. Especially in situations with frequent online/offline changes (e.g. because of unreliable Internet or wireless connectivity), this could lead to unwanted flooding with traffic. Many additional checks and minor optimizations have been applied to the traffic transport layers. System messages and traffic streams are now sent between peers in a more optimized way.
Handling of "Inconsistent Members"
The periodic checking for inconsistent members now works in all situations. In the past it would not find inconsistent users if they had performed a system-triggered “Collanos Name Change” (see version 1.2 for more details) before.
GUI Improvements
Excessive refresh and sort operations were removed from the objects pane. This includes insert, update and delete operations inside one folder. Changes were also applied to the Delete action. The GUI now stays accessible during delete operations and the folder tree refreshes only the affected folders, not the whole structure. A bug was fixed where not all objects were shown in the folder when a lot of small objects were received too fast.
