I don't quite get it. With programs like Subversion, files are stored in the repository but when you want to use it, it's checked out and then stored on a local drive.

With this, it seems the file is only ever in the 'repository' ie workspace. So, here's my problem...

Say I have a file like something.bmp which I've added to the workspace. Now I want to edit it. But right-clicking or double-clicking and opening opens (on my computer) Microsoft Viewer. So how do I edit this file? With Microsoft Explorer I could right-click and select a different program. Should I keep a duplicate folder structure with the original file to edit it, and then add it back into the workspace each time? I doesn't automatically update the file if I do so that makes little sense, but without the original file I can't edit it?

I am missing something? Am I totally out to lunch here?

thanks...

Great point you bring up.

We need to offer a similar option to users to be able to select which application to open the file with. Currently the default application is launched based on your OS settings.

On the other hand, by opening the file outside Collanos and saving it there, you are able to have a copy of the file should a team member overwrite your file in the workspace.
This will not be needed once we launch our conflict resolution bin as you will be able to restore older file versions.
