Title: How to access files from outside Collanos Post by: julio.endara on July 06, 2008, 03:00:04 AM Where are files located in the OS? Can I access them from outside Collanos?
thanks Julio Title: Re: How to access files from outside Collanos Post by: Anna Evpak on July 07, 2008, 10:11:49 AM Hello,
All files in Collanos are encrypted, after adding them inside workplace you can open them only out of it. Collanos has 2 folders - one for project files, another for data files, where information reflects as binary object. Standard data folder root depends on OS, for example in Windows: C:\Documents And Settings\{Your user name}\Application Data\CollanosData Title: Re: How to access files from outside Collanos Post by: agronatura on July 16, 2008, 08:51:11 PM We are looking for a way of file sharing and synchronizing in a kind of P2P structure. We found your site and downloaded the program. All looked very promising, BUT....
We use many spreadsheet documents all linked with each other. Also new spreadsheets are generated either from within the spreadsheet by macro's or from templates. All this does not work within the active workspace because the files are stored encoded elsewhere. All links and macro functionality are based on the original places of the files before they were added in the workspace. Actually we hoped we could directly put a shared file location in the workspace, then it would all work. Is there any chance to get it working within a workspace? Or do we have to look for another product, in that case any suggestions? Greetings, RH Title: Re: How to access files from outside Collanos Post by: Anna Evpak on July 18, 2008, 10:48:24 AM Hello,
You have described an important and useful functionality. Synchronization with hard drive folders within Collanos. We have this feature planned in our product road map, that is the option to work outside of Workplace on files (and folder structures) that will synchronize automatically with the Collanos application (either by creating duplicate files in Workplace, or just though a reference that points to the outside files/folders). We are currently in a research and prototyping phase and cannot commit to any release dates yet. If all goes well, we could release it around the end of the year |
