Release Notes for Collanos Workplace 1.0.2 (v1.0.2.07)

Today we released Collanos 1.0.2 (v1.0.2.07).

If you are not automatically prompted during start-up to download the new updates, please make sure to check for them in the Help menu under Software Updates -> Find & Install, or you can also download the latest version of Collanos from www.collanos.com. We recommend that all team members update to the latest release to ensure optimal operation of Collanos Workplace and the ability to use the latest features across the entire team(s).

A. New to this Release

There are several new enhancements and fixes released in version 1.0.2

1. German Translation Now Available – Users can now choose German as their language version for Collanos Workplace.  To change your Workplace’s language to German, go to Tools -> Preferences ->  Collanos Workplace -> Choose Workplace Language and then Select German.  You will then need to restart your computer.  Once you restart, Workplace will be in German.  If your operating system is in German and you are installing for the first time, Workplace will default to German.

2. Auto-Accepting of Invitations  – Users can now auto-accept all invitations extended to them.  This will allow you to receive workspaces even if you are not at your computer so long as your Workplace is up and running.  Auto-Accepting invitations is not a default setting, and you will need to turn this on.  To turn on auto-accept, you need to go to Tools -> Preferences -> Collanos Workplace and check Auto-Accept Invitations and then press OK.

3. Optimization of Peer-to-Peer Traffic – In version 1.0.2, we have optimized the peer-to-peer traffic in the Collanos network which should result in improvements in performance and consistency to the overall Collanos network.

4. Backup and Retrieving Collanos Data – In certain cases, GA users have not been able to retrieve their backups.  The problem has now been resolved, and users can backup and retrieve their data successfully.

5. Down Arrow for Presence Changes  – Changing your presence status in Collanos got easier.  Users can click the down arrow next to the presence status on the bottom-right side of the Workplace interface to change presence status.

6. Cut and Paste Folders – In some instances when cutting and pasting a folder, the folder would disappear.  This issue has been resolved.

7. Folder Properties Updated – In the past, folder properties were the same as renaming a folder.  With 1.0.2, users can now see the size of the folder and more general information about the folder after clicking on folder properties.  If a folder is empty, then users can choose to restrict a folder to a specific object type from the folder’s properties.

8. Notification Sound Alerts Now Working on Mac  - Notification sound alerts were not working in the GA version, but this has been fixed for 1.0.2.

B. Things we are still working on

1. Freezing Workplace on Linux – At times when receiving an invitation or notification on Linux, Workplace will freeze or a dialog box will pop-up and not go away.  A way to work around that is to have someone send you a message.  Your workplace should then unfreeze or the pop-up message will disappear.

2. Stuck Synchronization Between Two Users – In rare occasions, users have encountered problems with not being able to replicate with another team member.  If this happens, users should un-invite the team member from the workspace, and both should restart their Workplace.  We are working on this issue and will have it resolved as soon as possible.

3. Invitations Not Arriving – In a few occasions, an invitation may not arrive to a specific user and that user will remain light blue in the member’s pane.  This may happen if the sender or receiver goes offline during the invite.  If the user remains light blue for more than 5-10 minutes, un-invite and then re-invite the user.  The same thing may happen when a user is yellow and in the process of receiving a workspace.  This instance is more rare, but un-inviting and inviting should fix this problem.

4. Mac Users Need the latest JRE (J2SE) – If a Mac user does not have the latest JRE (J2SE) from Apple’s website and have it set as default, they may encounter the following problems: Collanos’ icons not appearing properly, installing Collanos, and sometimes even though Collanos installs, it will stop working.  For instructions on how to upgrade to the latest JRE (J2SE), please read the following support document: http://community.collanos.com/index.php/topic,395.new.html#new

5. Folder Structure Replication Inconsistencies and Disappearing Files and Folders – If two users move the same object or folder to different folders at the same time, then two things may happen: (1) folder structures may replicate inconsistently between users, and (2) files and folders may disappear. For now, we recommend users to contact team members before re-arranging files and folders in their workspace to prevent any replication inconsistencies and disappearing files or folders.  We are working on this issue and will soon have it fixed.

Thanks again for the time you spend providing us with feedback. Please feel free to contact us by email or through our support forum.
