Hi Murugan, the update of the presence service is not immediate. If you wait for 10-15 minutes, do the peers still not see the "server" peer as online? Are all your peers on the newest release of Collanos Workplace (Anna will know why I ask this question :-) Cheers Peter

Hi Murugan, what does not work in the general discussion? Can't you add a new topic there? Cheers Peter

The general discussions board seems to be locked, so I put this here... It has to do with "strategy" regarding completed tasks, finished projects, discussions etc that need to be archive etc. I'm just interested in the advice from long time Collanos users what strategies they have evolved to that the rest of us may benefit from. In some systems, making an item as "complete" cause it automatically to be moved out, or filtered. I don't see such options in Collanos and I'm not sure that we would even want them, so a manual CMS (content management) decision will need to be made. I would like to establish a consistent policy across all work spaces in this context and wonder what others have done to date.

1. OS = XP Pro - Collanos Version = Version: 1.3.0.2 Build id: 20080327-1240 2. I have not moved data, but last week I did install a voice recognition software - Dragon NaturallySpeaking. That's the only change I have made. Though I am trying to use Collanos without the voice software, and still having the same problem. 3. Process to Open Workspace a. Click on All Workspaces b. Go to target Workspace and it highlights. c. Move to right and click on Open button; or d. double click it; or e. right click it, get open option and click that.
All of these take me not to the target workspace, but to whatever the last workspace I was in.
Active Workspaces only shows whatever is the last workspace I was in.
Thanks for your help.
Mark

Hello,
You are right that moving information between spaces is very useful opportunity. We are going in feature releases to implement this. For the current moment you can use drag and drop function for moving information on you HD into Operational System environment and then dragging it into another space. But you have to know that business objects like note, task etc will be exported out and back to other space as xls files and won be reflected as in native space. Also you have to select files and wait with clicked mouse button until "+" sign appear (it takes time for creating temporal copy of dragged files) and only then move it somewhere.

Hello Mark,
Can you please answer on several question in order to specify your problem: 1. Which OS and Collanos version do you use (open menu Help->About Collanos Workplace ->build id)? 2. When did this problem started? Did you moved data somewhere, or you did some action and after this this trouble started? 3. Can you describe in steps what you do to open workspace: a. Click button "Open"-> window with your spaces list appear; b. You select Workspace-> it becomes unlighted; c. You double click over it or use button OK to open; 4. Does the correct workspace opens when you go to "Active workspaces" tab-> and double click over space? Is it possible to you to open it from menu Workspace->Open workspace?

First I want to say the Collanos software is exactly what my team has been looking for. We have people on various speeds of Internet service and so far it is running smoothly. I tried to use the Collanos Phone as well with the Workspace, but can't seem to get it to work properly.
My partners and I co-write many documents and we love the ability to keep current versions at our fingertips, instead of hunting through tons of files.
I love the recovery bin feature as well. The one feature I would like to see is a shared, real time, whiteboard. Any plans for this? We plot out Power Point Presentations and would love to have this ability.
Desktop sharing would be nice too.

OK after some testing I see we have limitations for moving items across work spaces. drag and drop doesn't work... you can cut and paste a task from one folder to another folder in the same workspace but you cannot cut and paste one folder (and all it's content) from one workspace to another. Fine, understood and I'm happy to live within the given boundaries.
But we have to acknowledge that re-factoring may be a requirement at times when project organization decisions change. The typical model for this in the dBase world is: export your data in some parseable format. Set up your new container and import the data back into your revised framework.
So with CW if we want to move an entire folder, and all it's children (tasks, discussions, notes etc.) from one work space to another, how do we do it? We are not yet using CW to hold any kind of documents

I have installed what I think you are referring to as a Superpeer -- an instance of Collanos running 24/7 on a machine with a publicly available IP who is a member of all work spaces and thus serves to keep everyone in sync....-- the only thing is: sometimes some remote users on the team to not see the Superpeer as being online? If I do a run time check I can see, yes, it is online. shows "green for connected" in my Collanos, but not theirs. Do we need to turn on a "switch" to tell the Superpeer to "broadcast" his online status periodically? It is running on a headless server and I access the UI via Remote Desktop on Mac OS X. I only drop in to make sure he accepts the invitation to a newly created work space, but otherwise he just sits there doing nothing but "silent sync service."

recently I started having the problem that when I click on a particular workspace and use the "open" button to open it it retrieves an unrelated workspace. I've quit and reopen the program numerous times to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
