Release Notes For Version 1.0.0.6

Today we released an update to the Collanos Workplace 1.0 Beta 2.  If you are not prompted automatically to download the new updates, please make sure to check for them in the Help menu under Software Updates>Find & Install.  To optimize the performance of your workplace, it is recommended that all of your teammates install the latest updates as well.

A. Things we fixed in this release

There was one major fix released in version 1.0.0.6.  We improved our large file transport protocol, which enabled us to more reliably transfer larger files.  This fix should resolve issues some of you may have had in replicating larger files among Workplaces.

B. Things we are still working on

As we are getting ready for our Final 1.0 release, there are some open issues which we are still working on that will solve many of the challenges you are currently having with the current beta.

1.  Presence and replication challenges when sending large files - When a Collanos Workplace replicates several large files with other Workplaces, the application may encounter a lot of traffic, and the receiving or sending Workplace’s status may go offline.  Sometimes the Workplace appears online to a receiver, but to others, especially the sender, the Workplace is offline.  When this happens, the replication will stop until the receiving and sending Workplace are both online.  A work around for this issue is exiting and restarting the Collanos application.  For larger files, the Collanos application may have to be restarted more than once.  Every time the application restarts, the application will make its presence know to other Collanos Workplaces, and the replication will continue.

2. Users cannot connect to each other - In a few cases, users have to wait several minutes for the Collanos application to first connect to other Workplaces.  The application sometimes needs to connect with other users who have a firewall and this takes time.  Other times, you may not see another person’s Workplace online, even though the Workplace’s status is online.   We are working on improving connection times and eliminating this limited incident.

3. Presence goes offline for no apparent reason - With some Workplaces, after using the Collanos application for some time, the Workplace's presence goes offline, even though the application is not sending or receiving any large files.  If this happens, the application should be restarted.  Restarting the Workplace will notify others that the Workplace is back online and the Collanos application will be ready to send and receive data.

4. Invitation does not arrive to some users - After sending several invitations to a group of Collanos Workplaces, sometimes Workplaces do not receive the invitation.   This happens because the receiving application's presence goes offline for various different reasons and the invitation does not arrive.  If the receiver does not receive the invitation in a few seconds, the sender should resend the invitation.

5. Email messages with confirmation code do not arrive - We are constantly improving our confirmation emails so they can get through spam filters of different ISP providers.  When a confirmation email does not arrive, your ISP has probably blocked the Collanos email.  Trying a different email address, such as a personal gmail, msn, aol, or yahoo, should solve the problem.  If you were not able to get a confirmation code using your email address, please send an email to: support@collanos.com.  Please provide your ISP's name, and we will work with your ISP to see what we can do to fix this problem.

Thanks again for the time you spend providing us with feedback.  Please feel free to reach out to us by email or through our support forum.

Sincerely,
