Hi,

I recently downloaded Collanos onto my Vista machine - however, it repeatedly fails in allowing me to register a username/pwd etc (after clicking on: 'Don't have a Collanos Name?').

It returns with the following error: "No conntection with Collanos User Directory. Please check your internet connection or try to connect a few minutes later"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

This message is given up, when Collanos could not connect to the internet, because 80 and 443 ports are closed. Probably you have any firewalls or proxy servers.
You can also find reply on similar question on next link

Thanks for the reply, I've tried your suggestions, and still facing the same issue:

1) Go to a command window and enter the command:  ping  superedge02.collanos.net
It should answer the following IP address: 206.165.150.222. You can exit. - SUCCESS

2) Enter: http://superedge02.collanos.net:443 in your browser. It should try to download something (an empty file name of type "application/octet-stream"). You can press Cancel.  - SUCCESS, well it accesses the page, although no  download pop up seen.

3) https://cud.collanos.net:443 - SUCCESS

- I'm therefore still at a loss to why I can't create a username. Any advice would be greatly received.

Kind regards

I assume that you have an application firewall running on your PC or in your network. Like that the browser can access the services, but Collanos Workplace cannot. Any firewall on your PC that needs to allow Collanos Workplace to communicate to the internet?

Hi,

I've put my PC in the DMZ and swiched off my Kaspersky firewall and it still doesn't want to play ball.

Hmmmm... I'm able to get Groove to work but not Collanos, why is this?  Huh

This is really strange. I asked development for advice and will come back asap.
Do you work with a laptop? Just to test whether from e.g. at home you could connect.

Which version of Collanos did you install - 1.3.0.4 from the Collanos download?

Hi,

I can confirm I'm using the latest version (1.3.0.4).

I've also installed Collanos on another laptop running Windows XP, with all the latest patches (on the same network) and it works fine (also running Kaspersky IS 2009).

It seems strange that it works on XP and not Vista.

Kind regards

Note: I've now taken my PC out of the DMZ and switched off 'intrusion detection' on my buffalo router - this works fine when using Windows XP. I plan to sort out the exact ports when I finally get it working on Vista

Hello,

Can you please send us your log files for more objective investigation on anna.evpak@collanos.com

Follow next instruction:
1.Go to C:\Documents And Settings\{Your user name}\Application Data\CollanosWorkplace\{Unique Key}\Data
2.Copy all files, not folders;
3.Go to .metada hidden folder (make settings in you file manager if you can not see hidden folders) and copy there .log file;
4.Please archive all this and send it on e-mail;

Hi Anna,

Thanks for your response. Please could you confirm the pathname you've provided is for Vista - should it be:

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\CollanosWorkplace\{Unique Key}\Data - if this is correct then I dont have a 'data' folder under the {unique key} directory.

The 'data 'folder appears one director up in ..\CollanosWorkspace. And regarding the .log file, do you mean the .lock file - as I don't seem to have a .log file?

Just to be on the safe side, I'll send you the entire directory regardless...

Kind regards,

I'm not sure that I understand your question. Please could you explain what you mean.

I'm still not able to even obtain even a username...

Kind regards,

If you have just started to use collanos it is possible to store your data and try to start on fresh Data, but on fresh start you wont see your files.
