In process of upgrading from Vista 64-bit to Windows 7 64-bit.  Any feedback on Collanos Workplace working on Windows 7?

I am using the latest build of Collanos ( 1.4.0.2) under Windows 7 (32bit) without apparent problems.

I run Collanos Workplace v1.4.0.2 on a Windows 7, 64-bit platform.  Generally, everything seems to work OK.  I am a university professor.  I have five grad students working on projects.  I created a workspace for each person.  Collanos makes it easy to coordinate what all of the students are doing.  Communicating and sharing files and information is easy to do.   Smiley

Everything is not perfect.   Huh

For example, when I add a "Post Note" to a folder, the "Subject" line box is too small.  It cuts off the letters thereby making the title difficult to read.  Also, the "vertical slide bar" on the right side of the Post Note page sometimes works and sometimes does not.  I can literally type off the bottom of the text screen and not be able to see the bottom of the note.

I have email Tech Support about this issue; however, I find that Tech Support rarely replies or takes a long time to reply to a question or bug report.

See the attached screenshot of the PostNote to see what I described.

I posted an earlier comment about problems with the "Post-It Note" feature of Collanos Workplace.  No responses from anyone to date about this issue.   Huh

I used the Post-it Note  feature to respond to student comments this evening.  My reply ran more than the Post-it Note screen.  This means that my comments run below the bottom of the Post-it screen.  The damn screen does not scroll down to allow me to see what I continue to type.

Overall, I like Collanos Workplace as a tool.  However, I am frustrated by the lack of reaction to problems with the product.  Transfer of information from one workplace to another is very, very slow.  Features do not work properly.

Groove, for example, allows users to "upload workplace changes" to Groove servers and archives them until the other side of the transaction is online.  At this point Groove finishes the download transfer.  Collanos transfer requires both parties to the communication to be online at exactly the same moment for transfer to happen.  This is impractical and not workable!  Collanos Workplace is not as vibrant and responsive as Groove.

I have recommended Collanos Workplace to colleagues and have talked about the software in conference proceedings.  I make many presentations about "Teaching with Technology."

I am going to slow down on the recommendations.  While I like Collanos Workplace, problems are considerable.  Until they are resolved, faculty will most likely be unwilling to use the software with their classes.

Bummer!  Collanos has great potential, but is simply unreliable for good performance.
