Hello Peter
Thanks a lot for your question. The good news is: We do already have a Java client! In fact, all our three applications that you can donwload today, i.e. Collanos Workplace for (1) Windows, (2) Mac, and (3) Linux, are Java applications. They are almost "pure" Java. The only difference between the three applications is the User Interface, which is implemented using a UI framework (Eclipse Rich Client Platform) that gives each platform its own native look and feel. In other words, our Windows version looks and feels like Windows, the Mac version like Mac, etc. - while they are in fact implemented as portable Java code.
For simplicity and robustness reasons, we are currently shipping also the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) with the Windows and Linux versions (not for the Mac). Unfortunately, this makes the size of the Installation Package very big. We will optimize this situation in the near future and gradually provide a smarter and leaner Java installation.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
