We are experiencing a temporary scalability problem, due to a very high number of new users joining Collanos in the last few days. Our P2P network is based on a small number of so called "super peers". They help relaying traffic between users behind firewalls and are also needed for the user presence system (i.e. "who is currently online"). We will add additional super peers tomorrow and also during the weekend. This should solve the current bottlenecks. We are sorry for these troubles and look forward to hear from you again, once this problem is fixed. Thank you for your understanding.

You might want to study the Skype outage a short time ago.  They had a problem where their "super peers" went down and really ticked off their customers.  They state they have implemented a solution to permanently resolve the problem.

Hello
the issue with users remaining "connecting ..." for quite a while after starting Collanos Workplace should be fixed now. Can you confirm this?

Negative.....  it worked great yesterday afternoon.  I used it both over a wireless network (internet) and also on a private corporate network behind firewalls (Tumbleweed) and a tight IT group    Now it is doing the same thing...  nothing

I have several people waiting to jump on this deal when it gets up and runnin...  it will get there - its a great product!!  And KUDOS to the support guys who are trying to get the bugs fixed!!

The time indicates it is 8:59 p.m. somewhere right now, but it is actually 2:59 p.m. on Tuesday the 25th of September here in Michigan (U.S.)

Could you please verify once more? Just to confirm whether some network issues we had yesterday were not the reason for the problems. Thanks.

As of right now, 10:46 a.m. EST Michigan, I am not having any issues at all.  I connect up instantly, again on a corporate network, and can change status without any problem at all.  Again, you guys rock!!

I had this problem a couple of days ago, right in the middle of testing the software for use in our company.  After looking around in the help menus, I finally did what seems to be the technology standard for problems such as this: I exited the program, waited a few moments, and completely restarted it.  For some reason, it worked!

Thank goodness for Windows and cell phones... without them, we would never have that tried-and-true solution.

Hi,
thanks for your feedback. I actually also have a cell phone that I need to reboot regularly
In some situations for example when the network is disconnected or the IP address changes, Collanos Workplace is not yet able to reconnect to its peers and to its super peers (relays and rendez-vous).
It only does it if it is restarted. We will for sure work on this. At the moment we still need users experienced with software or tools as you mention - knowing how to help themselves in case of trouble sometimes.
Thanks for your patience.
BTW since Collanos Workplace offers most of the functions offline and online, even without a network connection users can go on working with the team data. This is one of the big advantages of our p2p architecture. After reconnecting/restart the changes will be synchronized with the team members again.
Cheers

I work in a network engineering group of a large communications company.  We have numerous ad-hoc groove communities floating around among various depts.  And yes, ..we're looking for a replacement.  We stumbled across Collanos yesterday - really like it ...whenever we can get it to connect.

The exit and restart works some times ...but invites seem to take forever.  Exit and reboot is not an option - we rarely have to do that anymore on any of our desktop/laptop platforms ...Unix, Mac, or even XP ...so that's a non-starter.

The inability to connect in a quick and consistent fashion makes for a terrible first impression.  And collaborating with yourself in off-line mode - seems somehow - to defeat the purpose.

My guess is that Collanos is over-whelmed by new users and simply can't keep up.  Sincerely hope you guys can ramp-up the service soon.

Usually I get logged in within 2-3 minutes, which is not short indeed. Anyhow, this morning, I cannot have a successful connection. "Connecting..." is shown in the status bar forever. (Nov. 10, Time 11:55 AM EST).

What's wrong?

Hello,
We observe these long "connect" times at Collanos as well. As soon as we have news, we will come back to you.
The release roll-out involves some major changes in the underlying communications infrastructure which could lead over the first couple of hours/days to such effects: Very long connect times. Thanks for some patience with us over this first weekend with the new release.

Peter,
I experienced the connect problem even today with the new release 1.2 (assuming it would be solved with this release).
Further, once connected it seems to loose connection so I am shown as offline with both my PC's (dedicated accounts) although I am definitely online.

Yes. We are having those problems as well. It is Sunday Nov 11, 2007 @ 4:17pm CDT.

I have been trying to troubleshoot this software all afternoon. One client will finally log in after several minutes, only to disconnect saying network unavailable after 5-10 minutes. The other computer/client will not even connect.

FYI.

Also, I've tried re-installing v1.1 and it will connect and stay connected. But it is still slow.
