Hello:

I have a laptop, with Windows Vista and FreeBSD6.2, each one on it's own partition. I have a FAT32 partition for share/exchange data between both systems.

Can i create workspace files on the FAT32 partition and access them from Windows and FreeBSD without problems? Or will it crash/corrupt/burn the laptop?

Thanks In Advance

Hi,
actually a great idea to use the same workplace data from two different "clients". A similar need is to use it on a server from different clients. In the 1.0 version of Collanos this was not possible because the data directory was not separated enough from the program. In the mean time we did this.
Still it is not sure whether it works and we need to do further investigation. The installation process as well as some of the settings could still be an obstacle to such a use.
In the very next release there will be a new installer and the setup will be changing slightly. We will look at this scenario (actually I have the same need on my own PC with SUSE Linux and Windows Dual Boot - plus FAT32 partitions for shared data) in this new context and will let you know if and how it works.
Please do not try it yourself. It could be dangerous since the installation is writing into a Collanos ID into the the workplace data. This Collanos ID is quite important since it is stored in the Central User Directory with your Collanos Name. Changing Collanos IDs can make that your peers will not recognize your user as part of the team anymore.

So short answer: Do not do it yet. We will look at it and let you know, if, when and how it works.
Regards
Peter
