How do I add #name#@jabber.org to IM contact or any other XMPP account?

Right now, this is not yet possible.  Embarrassed

This is what our Collanos Phone specialist wrote:

Quote
We use Jabber as our Collanos-Chat-Protocol. At the moment each Jabber-Contact is identified as Collanos-Contact. Basic things like "can I phone this user?" and Address-Extension (add @collanos.net if someone only enters the nick) are handled by checking whether this is a jabber account/contact or not.

The phone has its own Mapping to the GaIM-Accounts through an IMWrapper. So the easiest would be to add a new protocol (another wrapper around the jabber-protocol) which we use for not-collanos-jabber-accounts and contacts. [...]

Regards, Pirmin

I added this as a high-priority requirement, i.e. to support any XMPP based contacts, for the next Collanos Phone release. We hope to be able to roll this feature out later this year.

Thanks for your answer, I'm looking forward to being able to add a jabber account and a full unified communications software.

This product looks very promising. Very well done so far.

Is the ability to register as a softphone extension to Asterisk IPBX in the future?

I think that would put this product over the top (even as a paid premium feature $).

Thanks, keep up the good works!

Yes, the forthcoming Phone release (give or take, one week until we put it online for download) will have the ability to enter a custom IP (or URL) for a SIP server. So, theoretically, you could register with Asterisk PBX and use it to call in and out to the PSTN.

The downside is, you won't be connected with the Collanos network and free calls with other Collanos users won't be possible. Why don't you play with the new release in a few days and provide us another short feedback? Appreciate!

I'm looking forward to the sip capabilities as an additon.

I would not want to lose the collanos to collanos functionality though.

Will Collanos Phone be interated into Workplace ?

The idea being unified communications and presence from Workplace.

Thanks.

We'll look into the possibility of supporting several SIP servers / networks in parallel, but can't say yet, if and when that feature could be added.

Yes, Workplace and Phone will be integrated gradually with the coming versions of the products. While there are many standalone soft phone offerings out there, our aim is to provide a well integrated unified communication and team collaboration platform. Think of basic features like one shared contact list, presence, IM, calling users, etc. all the way to more advanced features like "one-click team conference call" directly from workspaces, or combining it with smart Meeting objects that will notify and then call the invited participants.
