Im having a problem installing collanos onto my computer. I download the program onto my computer but am having a problem installing it or even opening it. I need another program to even open the program, ive tried with open office, celestia and vertex but none seem to open the program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Please check whether your installer is executable. Call contest menu for Collanos installer -> go to tab "Permissions" - is there check box "is executable" is checked? What error do you receive on starting Collanos? Please describe your steps to reproduce your error. Which Window manager do you use? Which OS version is installed on your PC?

I think this is similar to the same problem that I had when installing to Ubuntu.

The way that I was able to resolve this was by opening the terminal, changing my directory to the install file and they typing "sudo ./filename.sh"  But that is just from memory, so it may not be exactly this, but close if it isn't.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Linux OS has different base distributions, main is Debian and Red Hat, according to this separate different pages is recognized as executable programs. Collanos is cross-platform application and should b? available on all Linux types, that is why his installer it shell script file. In security questions Linux allow for default execution only Debian,Red Hat or other program. Shall script can be executed only if its permissions is set to "executable" or it is run as sudo by "sh" command.

You can find more details on next links:

I'm using the latest version of Ubuntu and I also experienced some problem.  I'm now able to use it.  This is what I found:

1) You need to change the permission of the .sh file to be able to execute it

sudo chmod +x workplace_unix_with_jre_1_3_0_4.sh

2) You need to add -c at the end to be able to run it from a terminal window

./workplace_unix_with_jre_1_3_0_4.sh -c

3) You need to create manually a shortcut into the panel zone, the menu located into Applications, Others, Workplace doesn't work.  I used the executable located into opt/CollandosWorkplace called Workplace

It's working very well now!

:-D
