In two days of moving lots of Office files into Collanos, I've developed an appetite for a Collanos utility (for Word, Powerpoint, Excel add-in) that would include my numerous Collanous workspaces/folders among the File-Save As... options when I'm in a Micrsoft document.

That way, while I'm still within and fully-focused on a particular MS document, I can quickly and easily plunk it into whatever workspaces and folders it may be useful to.

Doing file-copy or drag and drop from Windows Explorer or the Mac Finder can achieve the same result, but it takes longer and is more prone to distraction.

I'll gladly volunteer as a beta tester as and when Collanos may come up with such a solution.  It could be a value-added utility that enterprise as well as workgroups would welcome.

...Forgot to mention the "safeguarding" aspect of such an add-on... in enterprise versions, it could come with a (Manager-set) logging and automated reporting system to periodically update the Manager on where a users was saving corporate files in the Collanos environment.

This might help discourage document leakage outside the trusted workspaces, and speed adoption of Collanos offerings n large customer settings.

I compleatly agree,  There needs to be a way to save as and access/edit workspace files in the systems file browsers as well as in the workspace gui.

Second issue,

I have two excel spreadsheets, the first one is 2 pages worth of formulas which has a password on it so noone can accidently mess it up.  The second sheet is where our employees can enter the data which is then linked to by the first.  We have been doing this on just one computer getting the data through faxes and phone calls.  So it would be MUCH easier if everyone can enter their share of the data from their location.  I copied the files into a workspace and changed the links to match.  But if someone else edits the second sheet, the first doesnt register the changes.

Is this something I am doing wrong or are the file names changing somehow or what?

any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dennis,
First issue will be introduced later this year.

Regarding the second issue, if I understand correctly, you added TWO Excel spreadsheets to the workspace with a link between the two via the formulas, correct?

Can you try adding only ONE file to the workspace with two sheets instead of the two files and then see if it works or is this not possible?

No its not possible to have it all in the same file, two seperate files are necessary.

Regarding using external references in Excel to another spreadsheet in the same workspace:

Can't you use relative references?  The workspaces should have similar structure at some point.

I hope this is a feature that will be implemented.  I can do this currently in Groove and would miss it when I change over to Collanos.
