Problem: The installer technology (= setup wizard) used for the last version, Collanos Workplace 1.2, had a minor limitation on Linux Suse and Linux Ubuntu. On these two OS's it did NOT store on your computer the proper information about the installed application. As a consequence, the current installer, used in Collanos Workplace 1.3, will not be able to find out about the previously installed Workplace version.
Consequence: The consequence is minor. If you run the latest installer 1.3, it will simply not present you with the "update" option automatically.
Workaround: In this case you should manually install OVER the old program directory (this is the equivalent of an update). To do that, run the installer and after accepting the license agreement, you will see a page "Install type". Here you must choose the "Custom" option. The next page is the "Installation Directories" page. Use the "Application location" entry field to enter the exact location where your existing Collanos Workplace 1.2 is already installed. The "Data location" field will update automatically and pointing to your existing data. At this point you can proceed and complete the setup process.
DON'T use the Automatic-Update Theoretically, you could also use the automatic update process that is available online, but this WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, just postpone. Your Workplace would be updated to 1.3, but your Installer would STILL NOT know about it. To fix the problem permanently on Suse and Ubuntu, I is advised to update manually (as described above) using the new installer.
