I am installing collanos from home.  There is no proxy, I have a good internet connection.  I have turned off Windows firewall, only using router firewall and opened ports 80, 443, 8443, 9701.  I continue to get the error when trying to create a user account:

No connection with Collanos Central User Directory.  Please check your internet connection or try to connect a few minutes later.

I've searched the forum and cannot get this to connect.  Is there another way to create a user id?

Due to an internal Domain Name Server (DNS) change, we had a time period with wrong DNS values. The Central User Directory service was not "reachable" for several hours. In the meantime the new DNS addresses have propagated correctly across most of the Internet system and the service is working fine again. Sorry for this technical glitch.

DNS propagation can sometimes take more time than 24 hours, depending on where you are geographically located and how the Internet infrastructure "path" to your place looks like. If it still doesn't work at this time, try the following to check if you have the right connection to the Central User Directory.

1) Go to a command window and enter the command:  ping  superedge02.collanos.net
It should answer the following IP address: 206.165.150.222. You can exit.

2) Enter: http://superedge02.collanos.net:443 in your browser. It should try to download something (an empty file name of type "application/octet-stream"). You can press Cancel.

If 1) and 2) work fine, all should be OK.

I can get to it from work, with no accommodations for the firewall.  I still cannot connect from home.  My co-worker w/the same image, in the same building cannot connect from work.  He's opened the same ports I have open at home.  He gets the same error at work that I get at home.

thoughts?

I am trying to register a new user on a Mac installation and get the "No connection to Central User Directory" error.

I get the correct results for the ping test and the suggested URL  in the same message downoads a file called Desktop.

Is there some other settings I can try to create a new registration.

We can not reproduce, testing from various locations. Entering  https://cud.collanos.net:443  in a web browser should bring back a dialog about accepting certificate or continuing. If that happens, all should be fine. I'll check with engineering about next steps.

I tried that URL again, and this time got the certificate dialog, when I clicked OK, it took me to a generic Apache page:

"If you're seeing this page via a web browser, it means you've setup Tomcat successfully."

But still getting the "No connection to Collanos Central Directory" when I try to create a new user.

I am on a MacBook OSX 10.4.11  accessing internet through an Airport Express connected to a cable modem, and have tried disabling the MacBook Firewall to no avail.

Hello,

Can you please try to make next scenario:
Try to log into Collanos without AirPort, just using Cable modem
1. Exit Firewall at all;
2. Using standard search find folder cm (it is situated in the "Data"  folder) and delete cm;
3. Start up Collanos;
4. Click on the link "Don't have Collanos name?";
5. Input your information->click OK;
On which step error occur, can you please send us screen shot of the error?

Please check whether in your web browser is applied proxy settings and send us screen shot of Start up browser menu Safari->Preferences->Advanced->Change settings -> make screen shot and send us.
For more objective investigation we need your log files - please send us out folder “Data”
We'll be able to help as soon as you send us feedback

Greetings from Boston!

Regarding Collanos Workplace: excellent product!  I am looking forward to getting it up and running on my machine.

Computer: IBM/Lenovo T60p laptop, 64bit, plenty of horsepower
Kernel: GNU/Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64
OS: Debian 2.6.24-7
KDE 3.5.9, generally running the "testing" distribution
`$ java --version' returns: java version "1.5.0" gij (GNU libgcj version 4.3.1 20080420 (prerelease).

I have downloaded the shell script (workplace_unix_with_jre_1_3_0_2.sh) and installed it (as superuser), making sure to give my username full access to the data directory.

Upon starting the program, I receive the following error: "No connection with Collanos Central User Directory..."  I can send a screenshot and log files if you reply with an email address.

DNS is resolving accurately (I get the appropriate IP address from the ping command as listed in a reply above), I am prompted for the binary file download when I paste the URL into my browser window, and I am prompted to accept or decline the certificate when I paste the next URL into my browser.

I have tried this from my home network (broadband, no firewall, etc.) and also from work with no joy.

Could it be a problem finding the network device?  A permissions error somewhere along the line?  Can you please help me out?

Prost!
