A user asked: "why when i invited a member to a workspace, sometimes they cannot see my workspace on their screen and they appear in yellow on the member icon".

Answer: When you invite another member into a space an Collanos invitation is sent to the invited member (to the workplace installation that is linked to this Collanos Name) and the invited member is shown in light blue in the member pane of your workspace. If invitation auto accept is on the invitation is automatically accepted by the members workplace. When your inviting workplace receives the confirmation of this it changes the color of the member in the space to yellow and starts transmitting the content of the workspace. Depending of the size of the data in the space this can need quite a while. When the space has arrived at the invited workplace and it gets opened the status of the new member gets green in the member pane.

Before a space has completely arrived at the invited member it is not visible on the invited members workplace. I assume the situation that you mention above is the situation during the first sending of spaces to new members.

If auto-accept is no on the new member for sure realizes that something is going to arrive since he needs to accept the invitation first. The issue users without auto-accept set to on have is that they often come back to their computer and just before switching the PC off realize that there was content waiting to be sent. Very often in the mean time the sender is offline and that can make it needing quite some time until an invitation process is gone through.

Cheers

I downloaded the executable (XP) and then was invited by the person who wants me on Collanos.  My auto-accept is on (default).  The only workspace I have is the sample.  My "traffic" started at 28 MB and slowly moved down to 14 MB.

I had to log off and log back on to my machine - and restarted Collanos.  Nothing has moved in over 2 hours.  I've exited and come back in - but again - nothing has changed.

What else should I do? Huh

In my case the Invitee doesn't see anything at all!

I set up a workspace on my computer and invited a colleague to join.

They didn't have a Collanos account set up, so they did that but didn't get my invite. They set up a workspace of their own and invited me. I got the email, which told me that as soon as we were both connected the workspace would start to sync. We waited two days. Nothing.

I set up another workspace and my colleague got the email telling him that the workspace would be synced up as soon as he was connected. Once again we waited a day or so but nothing happened. No workspaces are created. No files are transfered (a few kilobytes of test material). The user status of the unjoined member never seems to change, despite the fact that we are both chatting on Skype confirming that we're both logged in at the same time.

IM works between us. Skype works between us. But Collanos is dead in the water. Are there any other troubleshooting steps we should be trying? Maybe some information about what ports Collanos uses would be good, so I could start looking in my firewall logs.

Hello,

First of all make next settings on both your applications:
1. Open menu Tools->Preferences-> "Preferences window"appear;
2. Select left menu item "Collanos workplace";
3. Look at the end of check boxes list  and de-select "Auto-accept invitation";
4.Press Apply->Press OK;

Now verify whether you and your colleague application is in status on line (on both application you see your self as online and your colleague see himself online).
Now verify whether you use firewall or proxy server. Make settings to firewall. Collanos need 443 port and (9701 or 80) ports to be opened. if you use proxy server -> write here I will describe how to apply proxy settings to Collanos

Follow next instruction:
1. Press on menu panel Button "Create new space";
2. Input space name and invite your friend to this space;
3.Message about invitation should arrive to your colleague,which he should accept;

After this synchronization process would be started, you want see any process until space would be downloaded, during this time you both should be on line. You can also raise upload speed. Instruction about speed settings could be found on http://forum.collanos.com/index.php?topic=1254.0
