Is this a bug(?) or feature and is there a workaround.

I have 4 peers collaborating on a workspace.  Peer A uploads a set of files of approx 500MB.  Peer B is online and starts to sync.

Peer A notices his mistake and deletes the folder containing 500MB of files before ANY peer has fully synced the workspace.  Peer B continues to sync the 500MB of files even though they have been deleted by the origin peer (Peer A).  Peer C and Peer D or now online and also start to sync the 500MB of files each, even though the origin peer has deleted the files.

On each of the peers (B,C and D), I delete the directory structure that has appeared but alas the sync still continues.

Is there any way to stop the sync of the now deleted files, it appears that using the current scheme, the deletion will only occur once the full sync has happened on peer B,C and D.  This is extremely wasteful of bandwidth.

Thanks

Ps. Peers A = Workspace 1.3.0.3 on Linux 32 bit (2.6.24-19-server)
Peer B,C = Workspace 1.3.0.3 on Windows XP
Peer D = Workspace 1.3.0.3 on Vista 32 bit

Hello,

Short answer - it is not a bug, Collanos works fine. In order to prevent data lost even when you have  deleted file it will sync to all members and only then it would be deleted.

Anna,
 Thank you for the response.

Is there anyway to stop this from happening either as a one off or permanently?

If I removed all other users from the workspace and then re-invited them, would the sync of the deleted items still occur?  Basically, there is only approximately 60MB of files needed, it seems pointless sync'ing over 500MB when I can remove all members and have them sync the 60MB again?

Thanks

Hello,

Let me please describe download process a bit: All operation are made by turn, in order to prevent conflicts. So you have added some files and than un-invited space members - this operations will be applied by turn. So, the only way to stop it is not to go on line or to delete Data folder manually (but it is possible only if you don't need all your spaces). So you should wait until it will be downloaded. You can raise upload speed for all space members ant it will be done faster, you can do it following next instruction http://forum.collanos.com/index.php?topic=1254.0
